Kate Merrill Photo--Denver Wedding Photographer
Kate Merrill is a quirky, artistic, and fun-loving wedding photographer who focuses on working with folks who rock their weird. Unique venues, laid back vibes, and dogs make Kate the happiest photographer in the world. She's an out and proud Star Wars, Harry Potter, and Lord of the Rings nerd...and bisexual woman. Her british cynicism is always right below the surface, and she’s always ready to crack a witty remark to make you laugh for a photo. Kate focuses on letting the personalities of the humans she's photographing shine through, and stays away from the viral Pinterest poses. Capturing how you really are with one another makes for photos that are timeless in their authenticity. She wants to make sure when your family and friends look at your photos they say “yes, that’s SO them.” Whether it’s a sarcastic eye-roll at a bad pun, or the soft forehead kisses you love to give each other, those little things are part of you! Stiff awkward prom poses not included. She loves capturing the candid emotional moments between you and your family and friends. Letting the moment unfold naturally is so much more important than posing every interaction.
Kate also went to school for photography and drawing, so she is drawn to artistic compositions and photos that are a little different from the norm. Past couples have called her “artistic without being inaccessible” which is a great way to describe her photographs.
Kate is based in Denver and travels all throughout Colorado for weddings. How can you stay away from those stunning snow topped peaks! She has even road-tripped out to Moab for some elopements. But, she has a soft spot for downtown Denver weddings in industrial venues. Photographing against fun colored walls and artistic murals is just as great as standing on a mountaintop taking in the views!
Kate has 7 years of experience (that's over 350 weddings!) photographing weddings professionally, which means she's cool under pressure and there to make sure everything runs smoothly. When you’ve seen everything go wrong before and powered through, you know you can handle anything!
